A Family keepsake with a fresh twist. A co-production with zero pressure to perform. Be yourself, be someone else, dress up or down, downtown, at the beach or on a bike. Make a plan, wait for the nice light. Pick a meaningful song. Want one for your family?
This video was shot over a 3 day period. Each shoot was no longer then a few hours.

After 12+ years of making moving images for people in various forms, purposes and mediums I finally shot and delivered a wedding video. Meeting people for the first time on the biggest and probably most emotional day of their lives and then taking out a camera to capture it all is an exercise in trust. A mini co-production of sorts. No package “A” package “B” etc, Instead a few emails where we discuss what you want, your budget and your wish list. Next I send you a basic outline of my base costs and off we go. Want me to capture a special family beach day before or after the ceremony, or shoot you surf, fish, swim, snorkel from land or water? All good.
I am looking forward to doing my first “Love Story” mini film. For this I would add a day of short fun interviews where you tell me your love story. Then I weave your dialogue to music and let the story unfold.
In the meantime enjoy this little sample. It was a small wedding so I choose to shoot it hand held with my DSLR, a 50 mm prime lens. It is a bit loose with a shallow depth of field providing a moodier and more cinematic texture then typical video cameras with fixed len’s.

Video Production companies often make teasers, or reels as a quick way to display work. But taking years and years of video/film/tv projects and jamming it into one 60 second spot is tough. But if you are time challenged and want to see if I know what i am doing then watch this clip. Keep in mind I am more of a long form video story teller.
On this reel I choose to take some images based on the last few years while shooting in Nayarit. Sayulita is such an interesting and culturally diverse little town to shoot video. The seasons, moods, people, activities, events and stories I have captured in the last few years fill a few large hard drives. And like most people I have lost a few gigs worth of magic here n there. But this is a reflection of some nice moments. Nothing fancy, no after effects, very little color correction, just HD video shot on a variety of camera’s for clients, friends and just because from 2009-2011. I cut this to snippets of some groovy tracks we like. Not exactly Hollywood flash, but then again I am in Sayulita not sitting on the interstate #405 in LA. Bring me your projects big or small broadcast or youtube and lets have some fun!

Any visitor or resident of Sayulita has heard the sounds of Nieve Nieve Nieve! After living in Sayulita for almost 4 years I finally found the opportunity to shoot or local Nieve guy for a day with  Kevin Shepit a shooter who I had hired for years on old TV projects back in the day. The reunion was fun as we followed the ice cream guy all day! This is Kevin’s edit. I have more footage and sound and will edit a slightly longer version this fall. In the meantime this one is a classic! enjoy

I sometimes think we are too busy living life to video our families magic moments. But once in a  while I take out a camera and shoot more for recording a moment then for making it into a video. When I heard the song” I wish I had a Mango Tree”  by Angus and Julia Stone I remembered recording a day on the trampoline with our then 3 year old Niko. This short clip has inspired me to work with other family footage. With the right mix of footage and music magic can happen! Nothing fancy needed!

The little water proof Go Pro cameras have opened up a whole new audience to once very expensive POV camera’s. Summer time in Sayulita and a day on a local Charter boat mixed with some Ziggy Marley is fun stuff.. The footage is easy to edit. This was my first time shooting and diving underwater with a camera and with no viewfinder it is not easy!. This is a sample of a home video project. Bring me your footage and song list!

Two local Sayulita SUP rippers approached The Mango Tree about creating short video clips. Both of these clips were done quickly with limited time for shooting and editing. Great chance for me to practice my Spanish translations and in the end call on my wife to help out!

2011 was the year of SUP video projects for us. Punta Sayulita approached The Mango Tree to produce video for the 2nd Annual Punta Sayulita SUP and Longboard Classic. They were simply asking for videos ” that moved the needle”. As a video and film producer with a broad range of clients and experiences I love vague instructions. It gives me some freedom to explore and learn more about my client and use the power of video to ” move the needle”.

Punta Sayulita is a new real estate development that is very involved in Sayulita through The Punta Sayulita Foundation. I was searching for a way to involve an SUP/ Longboard event and concert while connecting the event to the magical diverse vibe of Sayulita.
The event also included a live beach concert featuring Mishka. After listening to this soulful reggae artist I wanted to use his voice to tell the story. A few minuted after meeting Mishka I realized we would have some good media to work with.
I ended up producing several clips for Punta Sayulita and the client was very happy with the results. I look forward to working with them again in 2012.
